ART for future generations of Designers & Developers at the University of Perugia

ART for future generations of Designers & Developers at the University of Perugia

The important thing is to never stop asking questions; curiosity has its own reason for existing.Albert Einstein

ART has always been at the forefront of skills development in its local area: it cultivates strategic partnerships with universities, it offers internships and programs designed for young talent such as the Z Incubator, it organizes visits for students and lecturers who carry out their teaching mission every day in university classrooms and beyond. Now more than ever, in a rapidly changing world, it is critical to promote flexible and specific learning opportunities that look to the future.

David Berti, Infotainment HMI & UX Designer in ART, after investing more than a decade in university lectures and seminars, has, since October, joined the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Perugia as Adjunct Professor of the “Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)” Laboratory within the Computer Systems Programming and Management course.

The course introduces students to human-computer interaction (HCI) issues and the presentation of guidelines for creating effective and user-friendly interfaces. The main topic of the course is User Centered Design, which is essential for providing advanced services, including in the mobile environment. The goal is to be able to design intuitive and effective interfaces for the user, around whom all effort and design work revolves.

In order to transfer skills and make a difference, you need passion and motivation, and David is an example in this regard, both professionally and personally.

“The formalization of this role of mine is one of the many small pieces that make it possible to mitigate the skill gap that students frequently encounter upon their first contact with the world of work. In the light of “skills over degrees,” this role facilitates the exchange of vision and joint direction with the academic faculty in structuring educational programs that are always in step with the times.

What ART is doing today is something that is very important and significant: it is playing an active role in setting an example, one of practicality and investment. In fact, it is vitally important, today more than ever, that the industrial fabric plays a part in defining (1) the quality of teaching and (2) the approach to teaching that is delivered locally, and stimulates – in the first person – the dissemination and in-depth study of essential topics, targeted in-depth study programmes, and teaching formats that enable the many young talents that we need so badly today to emerge.

In my opinion, this ‘Business-University’ pairing is built on and contributes to building a fundamental cornerstone of the world of work: the Person. And it is in the interchange with the person – in my case with the new generations of Designers and Developers – that ideas, perspectives, visions are shared; these ideas enrich the quality of teaching with content that is always fundamental and, when possible, avant-garde, and allow students to develop and be prepared for an increasingly complex and technologically advanced world of work. And this investment, I am sure, always gives great value over time, for the Company, for the University and – consequently – for the Territory.”
